Favorite Fall Pictures

I was going through my picture file and came across some old pictures from Lake Tahoe. They are from an anniversary trip my husband and I went on before we were married. I can't wait to go back!!

New dining set

As I mentioned yesterday... we were getting a new dining set.. Here is the table...

Soooo much better. The other table was dark wook and it was pub style. Not very cozy for family get togethers. I can't wait to use our dining room for Thanksgiving!!
The buffet table in the entry way.. I started decorating it for fall with the items that used to be on the ledge above it. I will eventually add pictures but I didn't have time last night.

Fall Chandilier

I saw this project on Martha Stewarts website and thought it would be a really cute chandilier for my dining room. All we have is recessed lighting and no light fixture over our table.
There were no instructions on how to make the chandilier so I put together my own and this is what I came up with.
Instead of using real pumpkins, gutting them and then  using tea lights, I used flamless candles I got on sale at Michaels. This way I don't have to worry about buring down the house when I want to have the  candles illuminated. Anothing thing I did was secure the candles with velcro so they are easing to take on and off when I want to turn the lights on. Instead of using individuals leaves which can be costly depending on where you purchase them, I found the fall garland half off at michaels. It made the project super simple! I think the overall cost was about $23.00. (3.00x4= 12.00 for the candles, 3.00 for the wreath and 4.99 for the garland and about 2.99 for the wire I used to hang the chandilier) The velcro cost about a dollar so I didn't really include that in the price, especially since I have a ton of velcro left over.
The pictures are a little blurry because they were taken from my iphone but you get the idea. We are getting a new dining room table today so I will take pictures again when it is in. I am going to redo the centerpiece for the dining table as well since we are having Thanksgiving at our house.

My front door project

So my girlfriends and I were on a mission for fall decorating! We spent last saturday working on projects and this is what I worked on.

I bought wall hanging tins from Michaels, styrofoam cones and little fall foliage. I put it all together and then hung them on my front door. I absolutely love how they decorate our front door and plant to switch out the foliage as the seasons change! It was an easy, quick and fairly inexpensive project that pretty much anyone could do. The scarcrows that are on the side of the door will be replaced eventually with hay bails and pumpkins.

Fall at my house

Fall is starting to slowly makes it way into our home. The weather outside has been hovering around 95 degress so it sure doesn't feel like fall!

Here are some of the things I've slowly done around my house. Tomorrow is craft day with girlfriends so hopefully we can add more to the house.
