Easter inspiration

We are just approaching March and Easter ins't until the end of April but I feel like you can never get a big enough head start on projects. While browsing the internet I felt inspired by these ideas. Hopefully you will be too...

Choco Eggs a la Martha Stewart- I saw this last year but ran out of time to try. I think this year I will do a couple of dry runs to see if they turn out.

I love this idea for my entry table. I saw a great bunch of cherry blossom stems at Costco for a really good price. I haven't seen any faux blossoms I like so I think I'm gonna go with the real ones.

The project on the left is really cute. The vases are made out of blown out ostrich eggs that can be found online.

Kitchen, Family Room and Entry way re-do.

We moved into our new house in June and since we've moved in I haven't been in LOVE with the yellow paint that is throughout the house. EVERYTHING was yellow. It wasn't so bad when we first moved in but over the past several months it has begun to get to me.

I've wanted to paint and we just haven't had the time. Finally I convinced my husband last weekend to take a trip to Lowe's. We picked out some paint samples and we started painting on Monday. I am so used to painting normal rooms and the projects being quick and easy. This was in now way a quick and easy project. We have so  much cabinetry in our kitchen and built in entertainment center that the cut work took forever!! Last night at about 2 am. we finally finished most of the work. We still have to get to the center of the alcove in our entry way that we want to paint a shade darker but hopefully we can get to that on Monday.

The yellow is the old paint  (obviously) and this is the only before picture I got of this area before I thought to take pictures of the before.

This is the eat in area.

After the paint, before the drapes
(Don't pay attention to the gate, this is to keep in Bailey our 7 month golden retriever)  Our fridge doesn't match our overs or our range and eventually we will upgrade to a stainless steel fridge but for now we are going to use the one we had.

After the drapes
(Eventually I will get drapes that extend all the way to the floor but at the time I don't want the white curtains touching the ground because we have a puppy who loves to lay in the area. The last thing I want is to wake up and find the drapes ripped to shreads or them covered in dog hair! )

Balloon drape over the kitchen sink. I LOVE this addition. It totally warms up the area. We used to have a picture over the window before and it j ust wasn't working. In the before picture you can see that it defintely needed something.

I need to take pictures of the family room before but I don't have any good pictures of the after. Stay tuned for new pictures of the family later this weekend.

**Sorry if the pictures are blurry they were taken with my iphone**

A valentines craft...

I was really, really, behinde in my valentine decorating and literally finished the following craft the day before Valentines.

My girlfriend sent me a picture of a craft she saw online and we decided we were going to give it a try. It was a felt heart. They were really cute and seemed pretty simple to make.

Here is an example from the internet.

.
These are really cute and while browsing through Joann's fabric I found felt for $2.99 a yard! Talk about a great deal!! This is how you make one.

Supplies:

2.5 Yards felt (you select the color)
Scissors (make sure to use pinking shears or fabric scissors)
Hot glue
Heart form
Round object

To start use your circular form (approximately the size of a coffee cup) and draw circles on your felt.

Cut out the circles (This will take you a while because you will use all of you felt)

Take the fabric, fold it in half and then in half again. Place hot glue on the bottom of you folds and place onto the heart object.

Place the folds consistently around the heart object. This is what the finished product should look like

This heart took me forever to finish and even though Valentines day is over it is still in displayed!

Bubbles and Berries Brunch

The holidays are over and I am so excited for Spring to arrive. The cherry blossoms are starting to pop up and I can't wait for the weather to warm up.

In celebration of Spring I am planning a girls brunch "Bubbles and Berries". This is my inspiration board.
I was planning a couples cocktail party "Cupcakes and Cocktails" for Valentines Day but life got so busy and we ran out of time. I love spending time with my girlfriends and thought having a cute, fun brunch would be a good way to spend some time together.

There is only going to be about six of us so I can really make the event cute without spending a ton of money.

This is the menu I currently have in the works. I may change it up a little depending on how good the fresh fruit is when the date actually arrives.

I was thinking of handing out mini bottles of champagne with home made labels as favors. Who wouldn't love spending the morning sipping champagne and then going home with their very own bottle!

I can't wait to start planning the decor!
