Thanksgiving Table Decor

The color pallette for my Thanksgiving table was Green, brown, champagne and ivories.

I used champagne/copperish chargers I purchased at Michaels and used my china that I received as wedding gifts. I absolutely LOVE the china and am so excited I have entire place settings for 14 people!

I purchased the silver candle holders at Michaels as well as the candels. I was afraid they would be too Christmasy but they were 50% off and matched my decor. The green and white mini pumpkins were purchased at Wal-Mart on a whim for $1.00/each, and the hydrangea centerpieces were made and used at my wedding in 2008 (I have a whole box full of them!)

At each place setting I folded a regular paper napkin and topped it with small pinecones I already had. I had originally planned on putting name cards in the pinecones but ran out of time.

Kaitlynn's First Birthday Party

The weather was horrible but I couldn't have asked for a better day! Kaitlynn took her nap on time and did wonderful with all the people at our house.

The water bottles I made months ago...

my first ribbon topiary. I can't wait to put it in her room. This was on our entry table that became the gift table.

Animal cracker favors for the kids.

I bought these at the party store for the kids to drink out of.

Kaitlynn ate half of the buttercream cake and surprisingly did not get sick! After she ate the cake most people left and she went directly into the bath tub!!

Ribbon Topiary and Ladybug Sugar Cookies

My weekend was very productive and I was able to get the ribbon topiary done for her birthday as well as bake 50 sugar cookies and learn how to decorate them with royal icing. I never realized how tedious decorating cookies can be! I think the first half turned out awful and the other  alf are just worthy of showing people. Here are my finished products...

This is what I was aiming to make...

Here is my Topiary...
My ribbons looks like they are pinned looser than the first picture but thats alright.. It would have probably taken more ribbon to make it exact...

This is the cookie I was going for ....

Here are my cookies

Friday Night Craft....

Yesterday I bought the things I would need for this project and I'm not sure if it is cheaper to make or if it would have been cheaper to just buy them... But I wanted to try... So here is the project...

The pots were cheap, I think about $.89 a piece and I bought a pack of 12 dowels for $3.00. I figured I only needed two but I would have extra for future projects. I had a bunch of ribbon in these colors already but I ended up going a little overboard and bought more ribbon. Ribbon gets so expensive and I think I bought three rolls at full price ($2.49 ea.) and bought the rest 3/$1.00 which wasn't too bad. The styrofoam balls were about $4.99 each and were not on sale. So for two of this beautiful topiarys I think the cost will end up being about$25.00- $30.00. I am going to use them for her birthday and then put them in her room as decoration so I will get double duty out of them. They aren't childish either which means they can be kept in her room as she grows which is a plus!! I will post pictures of the process and the finished product! Wish me luck!

Still decorating for Fall

We only have about 12 days until Thanksgiving and then the Christmas decorations will come out but I had some decorations I hadn't got around to putting out and decided to add some fall to our master bathroom. Our bedroom colors are shades of browns and greens. I wanted to keep with the theme for our decorations and found white and green pumpkins at Walmart. I also came across a box of pumpkins, pinecones and gourds that matched as well. (Mini pumpkins were 1.00 each and the larger pumpkins were 5. The box of p,p and g was $6.00)  I love the look because it is clean and matches with our room. I found some leaves at the dollar store that I had planned on usnig for a wreath or garland but never got around to doing those projects. I threw them in between the items on my vanity and added instant fallness!

Here are two pictures.. (argh!! taken with the iphone and they are blurry!)

Kaitlynns Birthday

This weekend was really productive and I was able to get a lot of work done for Kaitlynn's birthday. I labeled about 50 waters will handmade labels (I will upload pictures later today) and made about 12 animal cracker favor bags. The kids coming to her birthday will range in age from 1-7. Toys are too hard to find that are suitable for all ages in this range so I decided to make the animal cracker bags which they can all eat and then make lady bug lolly pop cookies for everyone else. I have all of the tissue paper pom poms done and can't wait to decorate for her party throughout the week. Here is a picture of what the favors look like- very simple and anyone can make them.

The picture was  taken from my iphone so it isn't very clear. Again these don't really have a WOW factor but I thought it was a cute idea.

Kaitlynns Birthday Party Update...

The countdown for Kaitlynns Birthday Party has begun. I am starting to think I may have biten off more than I can chew. The Invitations featured above were ordered from http://www.etsy.com/. This is a really inexpensive way to order invitations. It was $15.00 for the design and I had them printed at Costco for $.13 an invite. I made the tissue paper pom poms (acutally I've made two but I have all the supplies). I made my own water bottle labels which have been significantly changed since I posted them on here before. I have about a dozen down and have about three dozen left to do. (Pictures will be posted this weekend)
I just ordered the lady bug cookie cutter so when that comes in I will start my practice runs. I am going to make brownie pops which seem relatively simple and want to try out different chocolate colors for decorating.
I found the ribbon topiary via google images and love love love love this idea. I think it is such a cute addition to any table and would make an absolute lovely decoration to Kaitlynns room. Her crib bedding is the sophie bedding from Pottery Barn. (Sopie Bedding). I have no idea if I will  have time to make the topiary but I am going to try. Maybe I will work on the pom poms and topiary this weekend and save the baking till n ext weekend.

Let me know what  you think.
